Bowling Pins

The idea that from debating Biden Trump should seamlessly slide into debating Kamala is very characteristic of the Democrat understanding of human beings. Everybody is fungible. Everybody is just a bowling pin painted a certain color.

The campaign site of the democratic party candidate for president doesn’t have a single word about her platform.

These are the only links on her page:

    1. The likelihood that the Dems would have gone with somebody named Shapiro was ludicrous even to contemplate, knowing what the party has become. It’s like people aren’t even paying attention.

  3. This has absolutely nothing to do with Democrats and everything to do with American political traditions. American politicians are expected to debate their opponents. There are debates for state level offices like governor and senator, and in a lot of cities there are even city council candidates debating each other in school gyms. Every high school has debate teams, and all of the teenagers who are into politics join them because debating is a huge part of the political culture.

Refusing to debate your opponent in a reasonable forum is not an option for an American politician at any level. The Republican presidential candidate has to debate the Democratic presidential candidate – neither of them has the option to refuse to do this.

Now, I don’t blame Trump for wanting to renegotiate the terms of the debate given that there is a different candidate, but he can’t expect to get out of doing it just because the opponent is not the one he would have liked to have had. He’ll be rightly roasted as a cry-baby coward if he goes down that path.

    1. Hey, you want to talk about political tradition? How about the time-honored tradition of a nominee being selected during primaries instead of being foisted on voters through some bizarre procedure that makes a mockery of primaries as a concept?

You folks will come up with some new “nominee” three minutes before Election Day and then lecture us about traditions. Such lack of self-awareness and such preachiness from people who have spat at every tradition in existence.

This is a glaring example why I left your side and am not coming back.

      1. I agree that Biden should have stepped aside before the primaries and allowed a proper primary process to take place.

But how should the Democrats have dealt with Biden stepping down when he did? There was no time to do new primaries.

            1. I truly expected anything except an appeal to tradition. Hasn’t it been decreed that “tradition” is the favorite word of white supremacists?

              1. I’ve heard tradition is basically Hitler, right up there with gardening, home canning, having an emergency hurricane stash like the state emergency services tells you, going to church, driving, gas stoves, commercial air travel, having pets, homeschooling, heterosexuality, Latin, staying married, having more than 2 kids, knowing how to cook…

          2. She’s a known opponent with many weaknesses. Isn’t she less popular than Biden was? This is great if you don’t want a Democrat to be President or anything that smells like a Democratic agenda to happen! Trump has been raring and ready to go ever since January 20th, 2021. He’s got his standup routine on lock. This campaign only has 100 days to election day and maybe started two weeks ago.

He keeps winning! Throwing lawsuits at him and poorly aimed rifles at him isn’t slowing him down one whit. He’s having the time of his life!

You’d think the Democratic primary voters in closed primary states would be much angrier than you are. It’s so muted. The Republican primary was a muted weird snoozefest too.

[ I thought you were a registered Republican or something else entirely like independent or 3rd party.]

      2. What about the time-honored tradition of holding a confirmation hearing for the president’s nominee to the Supreme Court? That was kind of a “fuck tradition” moment.

    1. No. I believe they expected to use him for all he was worth. As a patsy which allowed people unknown to run the country through him, he was absolutely perfect. I suspect they planned on having him run and then step down in the first year. (Note: I believe they planned on stealing this election too as it was proved they could do that with no consequences in both 2020 and 2022.)

I think that Biden’s health has been declining for awhile. I highly suspect that it slipped faster than expected and thus his stepping down now was unplanned. If this was planned, they probably would have done a primary to find a new candidate. No one likes Kamula, and I suspect she isn’t going to be as pliable as a patsy as Biden was.

So no, I don’t think this was part of their strategy, I think they are scrambling to prop things up and make them look like their plans aren’t having issues.

My last bit of proof is that fellow Stringer Bell’s comment. If this were planned her website would have been fully flushed out instead of thrown together at the last moment.

The left wicked as they are, are quite good at organization which means that her website tells us a lot about the state of things behind the curtain.

      1. The reason why there’s nothing on Kamala’s website is that she’s trying to pretend to be mainstream while simultaneously trying not to antagonize the far-left base.

She’s an empty vessel, so she’ll be plenty pliable.

    2. “Biden bombing the debate was part of the Democratic party’s strategy?”

Short answer yes, longer answer: it was an opportunity they created and utilized.

      1. Well, duh, a dementia patient was sent to debate at 9 pm. A debate held uncharacteristically early in the election cycle, just early enough to happen before the Dem Convention.

Ever heard of sundowning? The dude was obviously set up.

  4. On one hand, it’s weird that she doesn’t have a platform since Biden dropped out 16 days ago. On the other hand, I’m not sure she expected Biden to drop out. Hoped, maybe. Expected? Who knows.

Since you last checked Trump posted a sixteen page document on his site to further explain his platform.

This should be reassuring as compared to whatever H.P. Lovecraftian horrors lurk in the shadowy hallways of power… In the distance, a streetcar bell rings as Claymation potatoes scream…Rice A Roni…

This framing is disingenuous. Remember he agreed to all the ridiculous terms of the debate with Biden on an unfavorable network. Stuff like mic getting cut off, intended to stop him from interrupting Biden, which turned out to be a blessing since we got to witness in real time how Biden’s brain really operates lol. Why cannot he negotiate the terms of his debate with Kamala?

So if Kamala doesn’t agree to his terms, can we say that she’s backing out?

  6. Refusing to debate your opponent in a reasonable forum is not an option for an American politician at any level.

The prominent dem politicians of my state (CA) have refused to debate their primary opponents. Feinstein never debated anyone, Newsom refused to debate Shellenberger, Senator Boxer never debated her opponents. Hell, even Pelosi refused to debate her primary challenger Buttar.

These are politicians of national stature.
