Governor Walz oversaw an explosion in the violent victimization of black people in his state.
All of these excess deaths of black people happened during Walz’s term in office. Why would anybody vote to bring his policies to the national scale?
Then again, white people seem to be doing great in Minnesota according to this graph.
Yea, because governors are the ones supervising the killing and incarceration of citizens?

Walz supervised the massive depolicing in his state, and that led to heightened gang activity.
Once he and Harris are elected, they’ll take this strategy national. We’ll end up with the UK form of policing where police stations are unmanned, crime is not investigated, but there are crowds of police bureaucrats poring over social media accounts in search of wrongthink.
Policing wrongthink doesn’t ever require you to get out of the office. You could probably outsource it to India.

If the cause is BLM and covid-caused problems, wouldn’t it be true for other states with a large black population too?

Not really. States with the highest proportion of black people are deep south: Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana. With the exception of the city of Atlanta, Georgia, these states did not see a lot of BLM action, because the state and local governments did not tolerate it.
The highest black homicide victimization rate is actually in Missouri, which is not in the top five, in terms of percentage black population. They did see a lot of BLM type action, going back to the Ferguson riots at least. And their black homicide rate is 65/100000 (as of 2022), more than double Minnesota’s rate even at its peak of 30 in 2021.
For comparison, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida, all in the top five for percentage of black population, do not even rank in the top ten states for black homicide rate. Mississippi and Louisiana do rank in that top ten, but not because of BLM action, as far as I can tell. They’re just very high crime generally. I don’t know if it is still true, but New Orleans, Louisiana used to be the murder and drunk driving capital of the whole country!
My god, why are we so darn obsessed with all these identity politic issues. We have soooo much deeper problems to deal with. Identity politics is nothing but a distraction to keep us plebs divided and fighting amongst each other, while the wealthy elite become increasingly more powerful a continue to amass enormous wealth at the expense of everybody else.
When are we going to start really discussing and targeting the REAL issues that affect everybody?

Is crime an identity politics issue?
We’ve had three bikes and a set of wrenches stolen out of our yard/vehicle. We no longer feel safe taking our kids to “historic downtown” or to the public library, because they are full of zombies.
This is the direct result of decisions made by local city and county officials after the ACLU sued over our panhandling laws. The homeless population in our county has gone up 50%+ over the last two years. Not because people have lost their jobs, but because vagrant addicts are trekking here from New York and other colder climes, since word got out about the congenial weather, abundant free food, and freedom from police bothering them.
We have discovered, in our search for a house to buy, that there are entire neighborhoods that are no-go-zones, not because of the neighbors but because they are too close to the railroad tracks that the vagrants use as footpaths, or backs up to a patch of woods that is densely inhabited (you can see the blue tarps on the satellite map).
This is not a race problem, but it is very much a political problem, and I am definitely basing my votes for all local offices around it.
Any sensible person seeing a sudden increase in local crime would do likewise, I’d think. If your town had experienced a sudden doubling of the local murder rate, coinciding with police policy changes… would you not be looking for who was responsible for those policy changes?
Or does it not matter because it’s only the black murder rate, and doesn’t affect you personally?
Anti-racism is mostly about elite institutions. The effect of these policies on the poors doesn’t seem to matter much.
