It seems that attempting to discredit political opponents in Europe by labeling them Jews is a long-standing tradition.
According to historian William Shirer, author of the best-selling “The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich,” back in the 1930’s before Hitler achieved absolute power, several of his political rivals claimed that he was actually Jewish.
