Don’t Scavenge

At my university, it is now forbidden to say “scavenger hunt.” Nobody has any idea why. We are being extorted in hushed voices to avoid saying it at all costs.

On the positive side, nobody has the budget anymore to organize any activities of the scavenger hunt variety. So the opportunity to transgress by accident is not there.

  1. Any idea whether it’s the “scavenger” or the “hunt” they object to?

Do you need a Vulture T-shirt for this?

People need to be reminded that scavengers are a noble and irreplaceable part of the ecosystem. Look what happened in India when a livestock painkiller killed off most of the vultures!

If it’s “hunt” that’s become a dirty word, well… someone needs to take them all snipe hunting.

    1. I’m not even sure. These edicts appear out of nowhere and no rationale is ever provided. It’s clearly done to confuse and make everybody potentially guilty of word crimes.
