My Accent

People in the comments are saying that I have a very strong accent but excellent vocabulary and grammar.

I always hear that I have an accent in my own language. Sometimes, people hear me and just start to laugh. I don’t mind because it’s a spontaneous reaction. But I don’t hear my accent in Russian. In English, I do. I even cringe sometimes in the process of saying something when I hear the accent.

I also really slaughtered with my joke that, for Ukraine, Trump represents a horrible end and Harris represents unending horror.

P.S. I’ve also been called an unwashed person of color in the comments. I’m fascinated to find out of which color I am a person because I’d love to bolster up my BLM credentials.

    My Texas drawl: oil pronounced as “awl”, john pronounced as “terlet”, a pun on the client of a prostitute. My Texas drawl or hick talk influenced by spic language primarily. When I made aliyah to Israel in 1991 did not know a word of Hebrew, damn near drowned jumping into the deep end of Jew language at 31 years of age. My wife, she’s a damned Yankee from Chicago. Only thing i knew of that mobster city was the band named Chicago whose music did not appeal to me. My Texas accent can’t shake it. Its like flies on fresh laid dog shit. THICK. Israelis laugh when I speak Hebrew with my Texas drawl. They mock me and say: “Boy when will ya learn to speak Hebrew?” As if my Hebrew some other language :))) So I know first hand what its like to speak with an accent. In my home town of Texas the closest shul/beit knesset\synagogue … 400 miles distant. At Texas A&M dated a Jewish girl from California and she said to me: Happy Hannukka! And I said “What’s That?” Sucks being ignorant as a stick.

    Was not an absolute am ha’aretz: Before starting 1st grade my momma warned me: “Be careful around Goyim they will hurt you!” My first grade teacher, ms Achison by name, sported a hairy upper lip and exorcised terrorism on young students like myself. Totally pissed her off when I stood up in the midst of class and shouted “Heil Hitler” and saluted her. The principle gave me licks with a board for the first time in my life two weeks into the 1st grade. That board and me came to know one another quite well. Ms Achison did not laugh when she opened her desk drawer and discovered a live bull snake! The principle failed to appreciate my sense of humor. The problem with most uppity teachers: they tend to take themselves tooooooooooo seriously. The principle drove a VW bug, in 5th grade my pals flipped his car over onto its top. Our way of saying: “What goes smack on the butt, goes smack on the roof”. He resigned as principle after that year.

        By everyone (including Israelis). Yuval Harari is not white, and neither is Jon Stewart, Naftali Bennett or most Jewish people I know.

        When did the Middle East become a white country? Palestinians and Israelis share a common ancestry. Remember Abraham came from Ur in present day Iraq. Nothing white about that!

        Yes, there’s settler colonialism, but that has nothing to do with colour as much as a false sense of supremacy from the Eastern European settlers. It’s up to you to decide whether the settlers are from the Middle East (thus non white, like the Palestinians) or White Europeans (and thus non indigenous to the land). Can’t have both.

        If even Italians weren’t considered white in America, you can’t claim to be middle eastern and white. That’s massive delulu.

          By the way, I’m fine if we stop using “black”, “white”, “brown” etc to refer to human beings, since none of us are really that colour, and especially since it’s becoming more of a social virtue signalling than anything else. But as long as we continue to use it, we’ll continue to deal with the consequences of all it’s racist implications, like the one-drop rule, among others. The reason why the IDF seems to kill more hostages during rescue operations is because it’s often difficult to use facial features alone to tell who’s Jewish and who’s Palestinian. Naftali Bennett in a kufiyeh won’t look any different from Bassem Yusuf. Which makes you wonder about the whole conflict in the first place.

          You’ve made this nonsensical point several times now. Italians and Jews weren’t considered white in the past. They do now. You’re implying that Jews in 2024 have the same racial status as Italians did in 1920. This is stupid.

          By the way, it is bizarre that a lefty that supports people identifying as cats and dogs would be so upset that someone calls themselves white. But it’s understandable. Shitlibs get confused when people do not behave in a way that is expected of them, given their race/gender/nationality. So they resort to this tired argument that their opponents are spouting “white supremacist” rhetoric but don’t they realize that the mythical white people shitlibs have constructed in their heads don’t even consider them white?

          “Why bat for a team that won’t have you as a member?” Basically calling them some version of uncle tom. Which is why it is very important for people like you to keep reminding Clarissa that she’s not white. It’s rude and pathetic. But you’ve got nothing else to stand on so I understand.

            YOU are implying that it’s possible for a group to NOT be white in the past but be white NOW. That’s moronic and illustrates the sense of supremacy I mentioned earlier.

            If write refers to colour, then it won’t change over time. If it refers to a caste/class, then why do you object to the “white settler class”? Looks to me like you doth protest too much, and that tells me something about your self esteem.

              Noel Ignatiev’s “How the Irish Became White” is a great book on this subject–he writes of a “ladder of whiteness” that the Irish immigrants (eventually) successfully climbed in America. A large part of their success was due to being able to join the pile-on against African-Americans.

              Now how much of this is left-right, woke-nonwoke, I’ll leave to others of Greater Intellectual Acumen than I. But it’s an accurate description of one thread of immigrant assimilation in this country.

            Leftists think that “not white” is some sort of an insult. And it’s exactly as you say, they convinced themselves we are “white supremacists” and must be devastated if somebody says we are not white. But the reality is that we don’t care. I don’t care who’s white and who isn’t. It’s not about that at all. I have no problem with being considered not white, or white, or whatever.

            It’s exactly like when they roll out their favorite argument of “how would you feel if somebody misgendered you?” And the truth is that I wouldn’t “feel” any particular way about it. I truly don’t care. And I don’t care when people mispronounce my name or suspect them of anything on this basis. These are all projections.

              I understand this. Have no problem with you being non-white either. It’s the Stinger person that has assumed that me saying you’ll fall under “Brown” — a term I don’t particularly like either — means I’m denigrating your identity. There most me a reason why the person wants to be regarded as “white” so bad.

              Heh. I have been “misgendered” over the phone before. It is pretty funny 😀

              All of our children have names that code as “black” to anybody who doesn’t share our religion, and in fact are more often given to black children than to white children, in the US (not outside the US though). We thought about that for maybe five seconds before we named them, and… yeah whatever. Somebody who sees the name in writing might think they’re black. So?
