“Why should anyone other than the woman herself have the power to determine what she does with her own body? A woman’s fundamental right of individual liberty, to her own life, grants her the authority to terminate her pregnancy if she wishes.

“Restricting a woman’s right to choose whether to terminate an unwanted pregnancy is the same as denying her control over her own body. I have carried this belief with me throughout my entire adult life.”

Don’t say it isn’t really funny.

Of course, nobody should have expected anything else given how Melania made her living pre-Trump.

I don’t think I understand why this is funny? I’m no Melania fan but this strikes me as a fairly common stance on abortion rights. Many Americans (including me) think this. It just seems mainstream to me. What’s funny about it?

  It’s funny that she releases it at the exact right time to hurt her husband’s campaign. The husband, I must say, who raised her out of the gutter, showered her with riches, gave her status, gave her a child, made her the First Lady and a billionaire’s wife, and she goes and delivers this underhanded blow.

      The lefties online are saying she’s doing it to help her husband’s campaign. They say that like other wives of Republican candidates for president, she is saying she is personally pro-choice to try to appeal to pro-choice voters who worry about the candidates’ rhetoric about various forms of abortion bans.
      
      I don’t think she cares either way about her husband’s campaign. She’s focused on her immediate family (son and parents/siblings/cousins) and earning as much of her own cash as she can. Obviously the right time to release her book to get maximum publicity and sales is close to the election.

    She is his trophy wife, and would have otherwise been someone else’s trophy wife.
    
    Her releasing this makes no difference at all to her husband’s campaign, just like her not appearing with him on the campaign trail makes no difference. Anyone with half a brain understands Donald and Melania have a completely transactional relationship. Voters who care about morality are not voting for Trump because of his flawless character. They also understand that Melania’s views on abortion don’t matter as she has no influence on anything.
