Once again, I have to say how impressive Trump’s capacity to learn is. Forget politics for a second. There’s a great lesson here for each of us and our non-political lives.
To give just one example, throughout his first term and the 2020 campaign, Trump seemed congenitally incapable of surrounding himself with brilliant people. Whether he feared being eclipsed or simply didn’t think it was necessary, he was always surrounded with blundering, blethering fools.
You’d think this is a character flaw that’s impossible to overcome, especially in one’s late seventies. But in this campaign, Trump suddenly adopted a completely different course. He surrounded himself with mega popular people with gigantic platforms. Some of these people are significantly younger than him, yet he doesn’t act like he feels upstaged or threatened by Musk, Rogan, RFK, etc. Whether you personally like them or not, it’s undeniable that they have a massive following.
And there are many examples like these, making the 2024 campaign immensely different from what we saw in 2020. Again, forget partisanship. It’s about how it’s never too late to change course. And that’s good news for all of us.
