A person of interest was nabbed Monday in the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson — busted possibly trying to use a fake ID in a McDonald’s, law enforcement sources said.
The man — who sources said is being eyed for the coldblooded, targeted execution in front of a Manhattan hotel last week — allegedly had a manifesto on him when he was taken into custody by cops in Altoona, Pa.
What I don’t get is why anybody would use an ID at a McDonald’s but let’s hope the murderer was caught.

I thought the ID things was weird too. But apparently a McDonald’s employee recognized him from the photos that were circulated and called the police. The police arrived and searched the suspect and found some fake ids on him.

This is why I despise reporters. You explained it clearly in just a few seconds yet they get paid to write and end up producing this garbled crap that will give rise to conspiracy theories and whatnot.

Machine written journalism has been a thing for years, well before AI.
Also, one company was using people in the Philippines to write basic stories with one American (per twenty or so Filipinos) proofing and editing for style.
The type of writing you’re complaining about is an inevitable consequence of deskilling journalism (which started to get underway in the early 1980s). Journalism was one of the first victims of neoliberal cost slashing.
Don’t hate the people or even machines writing it but do hate the process….
