That’s one of the reasons I loved the Icelandic deconstruction of Scandinavian murder mysteries ‘Trapped’ so much.
SPOILER ALERT….
When all was over, it wasn’t some fiendish mastermind staying one step ahead of hyper-competent driven detective… it was all human stupidity and greed and the police were barely competent (not having much experience with real crime before).
