Honestly, at 33 it’s weirder to be really into going out for drinks with buddies than into productivity. Usually, people get their drinking and partying done in the previous decade of their lives, and then it gets boring and one can move on.
I say all this as somebody who did quite a lot of nighttime drinking with buddies in my time but you don’t spend your whole life doing it. You experience it and then move on and develop other interests.
I must be weird because I’m doing most of my drinking in my late 30s and now in my early 20s, in my 20s I was broke and was the primary caretaker of my younger brother who has autism. Now that I have a job and a bit of cash, I can drink more but I do my drinking at home.

I’m very supportive and understanding of people who do things out of the traditional order. My drinking/partying was divided into two periods, roughly 27-30 (give or take a year) and then 36-40 (again rough dates).
I enjoyed going out and partying for a bit (or meeting friends and drinking) and then it became tiresome and so I stopped. Now, two or three times a week I have maybe two drinks (while watching tv) and that’s plenty. On rare social occasions I like about two beers (stonger here than in the US) and then I’m usually done.
Humans are not made for endless partying…. or endless productivity or endless loafing… or endless lonewolf hobby maxing. A mix is what’s needed.
Early 40s I meant, I’m 42. I don’t like clubs and they’re too expensive anyways, I’d rather buy the big 1.75 liter bottle of vodka for $14 and that will last for months. If my hip was all right, I’d be drinking some vodka and dancing to 30 Seconds From Mars which is something you can’t do in public without people staring 😂
Even when I was younger I didn’t care much for heavy drinking but I’ve always enjoyed a couple of beers in a quiet bar with friends. I miss the Goat Hill Tavern, my local dive bar that I’ve inhabited for 20+ years.
