Porn kills off sexuality and eroticism more effectively than moral repression ever could have hoped to.

I am totally convinced it is the biggest reason that young women have been becoming less willing to date and marry, since the advent of high(er) speed internet. It’s destroying not just intimacy and eroticism, but even basic civility, between the sexes: generations of men who think they’re entitled to things our grandparents had never even heard of, and women who think they can’t have a relationship at all, unless they consent to things they find personally degrading… if I’d been born ten years later than I was, I’d be opting out of that, too. It was already a close call: if I’d grown up in a church that had monastics, 85% chance I’d’ve become one. It was very appealing to me.

Actually, I fear that we may be stumbling into a resumption of tournament mating; a system that all the great apes, including we ourselves once used. We are the only ones that have ever escaped that system, and then only partially, incompletely…and unfortunately, perhaps temporarily.

I agree. Attention is the currency of the realm and there’s no man who can compete with the endorphin high a woman gets when she posts a selfie on the internet and gets a dozen likes in 30 seconds. Or posting a profile on a dating site and getting 50 messages a day. It’s insane. Someone used this analogy that I found useful. Men are dying of thirst in the desert and women are dying of thirst in the ocean.

Agreed. There are multiple evils that come out of it, but the source is the same.
