The Cultural Divide

I checked. It’s a real article.

They really don’t get it. The cultural divide gaped at me like never before.

  1. OT: A bunch of data fvkkery to promote the climate doomsday cult:

How people still take this seriously is…. not a mystery but frustrating.

  2. They are hurting Vance’s feelings, that will show him! Maybe more tiny little cards with mean messages will also help.

Democrats are hopeless. We badly need a third party.

        1. Dems are so used to have the control of the entire cultural apparatus and the media that they completely forgot how to convince and argue a point. They even forgot to have a point to begin with.

        2. To be fair though, words can do absolutely horrendous damage to someone. For example if someone hates you and calls you a child molester, that sort of thing spreads like wildfire. It doesn’t matter if its not true, nor does it matter if the person recants later. The damage is done. Your reputation, job, and life can be absolutely ruined by less than a handful of words placed at the right spot.

The reason the democrats like using words is that the media is on their side, typically they can say false things, damage will occur, and even if they are forced to recant at a later time, their allies in the media will bury it on page 48 in small print.

The also like using words, because up until the last few years, calling someone a racist, a Nazi, etc. was super effective. Resistance crumbled, as those hit with words desperately tried to stave off the negative public opinion. The more milquetoast amongst the right and center turned away from people labeled such, because they hadn’t yet figured out the media lies.

So yea, the left loves to use words. Up until recently it was super effective. As their words are ignored more and more, it is likely you will see it used less and less outside of personal attacks. They are evil and have a major lack of morals, but their leadership aren’t stupid, just wicked.

          1. I don’t think anybody on here right now has been here long enough to remember the excitable creature who accused me of being a pedophile because, she said, only a pedophile can be so upset about pedophilia.

I was very left-wing back then but that lady was far, far to my left.

            Good times.

I have a strong suspicion I’m about to be accused of the same by people on my right. There have already been hints in the comments that it’s too weird to care about Epstein and the Tates.

            1. Well you certainly won’t hear any accusations from me, and I’m very like one of if not the furthest right of everyone here.

So by all means feel free care about Epstein and the Tate brothers. I personally would very much like to know the Epstein stuff.

  3. Slate still exists?

Honestly, that’s my main reaction whenever I hear about something in Slate (or Salon) these days.

  4. “people who are in thrall to speech codes can never be successful”

I’m reminded of one explanation about why the left can’t meme.

The person (I want to say one of the Weinstein brothers but I forget which one) said that the structure of memes is about poking holes in fake reality (the phrasing was completely different). The idea is memes are about juxtaposing reality against subjective delusion.

At that point in time, all the left really had was subjective delusion — they didn’t have enough reality to point holes in the right’s narrative even when the right might be wrong, and being the left, they felt an immense need to get didactic and spell things out whereas the best memes let the reader connect the dots.

    1. That’s exactly the problem. The left can let people connect the dots because that means losing control over how they connect them. No, the left must constantly hector, teach, supervise, and control. And humor dies in this environment. So does love. People don’t love what they fear, and the Left turned into a source of absolutely nothing but punishment and misery.
