A judge had to resign after an illegal migrant from Venezuela was arrested at his home:

Doña Ana County Magistrate Judge Joel Cano has resigned from the bench where he has sat since 2011.

Although his resignation letter, dated March 3, did not state his reason for stepping down, it followed shortly after a man awaiting deportation proceedings, accused by federal law enforcement of being affiliated with a Venezuelan gang, was arrested at Cano’s home.

It’s very obvious what party the weird judge belongs to but there’s no explanation why a 60-year-old judge would be sheltering a 23-year-old Venezuelan arms runner. It’s all exceptionally bizarre.

    Somewhat related, I find it so funny that Kyle Rittenhouse fired into a crowd of leftists and hit a home invader, a wife beater, and a child molester.

      Heckuva coincidence wasn’t it?

      One feels like there should be a few well designed studies (you know, nonlethal) to try to duplicate Kyle’s luck, and establish whether this happens with *any* three people selected randomly from a crowd of leftists, or just when you narrow down the crowd of leftists to those actively trying to “murk” someone.

      I look forward to the study team showing up at demonstrations with a paintball gun to do the random tagging, followed by background check…

      yes, and thankfully due process worked and he is now free.

      There is many more cases just like this one where due process works, it just doesn’t make the news.

    Well, this happened in New Mexico, the land of the bizarre, so that partially explains the story.

    The article is quite interesting, essentially telling us that it was the wife of the judge who first offered him to stay on the property. Somehow their daughter (who apparently owns a lot of firearms and lives next door) is involved as well. It’s a nice family business they have there.

      One feels like judges + illegal arms dealers = a topic of public interest that journalists should be interested it.

        This is New Mexico, wild in every sense of the word.

        Nuclear weapons, aliens, Hatch chili peppers, arms and drug dealers, and some interesting hippies too. Anyone remembers Gene Hackman story? That also happened in New Mexico.

        Unfortunately for them, they also like to vote democrat so that completes the picture.

            NM is a very beautiful place, I highly recommend visiting if possible. Wild, untouched nature in many places. I am not as familiar with the area around the Silver City where Hurley is, but I heard it is beautiful there. Lot’s of crazy too – but in an interesting way. I heard a most illuminating chemtrail lecture there from a random person driving by in a pickup truck – he has seen me standing in a parking lot and made a point to stop by and tell me all about the chemtrails (this happened in northern NM). I was a little scared at first when he followed me around the parking lot, but he turned out to be harmless.

              Was only in a little sliver once but yeah… very fascinating. I remember laughing at the ‘land of enchantment’ license plates as a kid but having been there… I totally got it. The mix of American Anglo, Mexican and Native cultures was kind of intoxicating… have no idea if it’s still like that.
