My very religious and conservative Ukrainian Fulbrighter went to a concert of a retired military band on campus. Her main takeaway on the concert was that there were too many white people and the concert was not diverse.
This is what being in America did to her in only a few months.
I love you, Americans, but you spoiled my Ukrainian Fulbrighter with your race obsession. Please stop already because it’s getting beyond boring.

She sounds deranged, I’ve been in many spaces where it’s virtually all white people and never had a problem and I won’t lie when I say I’m more comfortable around other white people. I’m a lot more uncomfortable around black or Hispanic groups since I prefer to be around other white people, that’s human nature.
If anything, the Eastern European immigrants I’ve encountered are horrified to see loads of black and Hispanic people because they assume Americans are white people. I’ve worked at schools where the only white students are Eastern Europeans and they seem bewildered to be around so many minority students, especially if they don’t speak English. I understand since American shows often portray high schools that resemble upscale shopping malls and white middle class or wealthy students, going to a poor rundown school with minority students must feel like the twilight zone
