I rarely agree with this guy but I agree with him here:
Trump did well by kicking Elon to the curb. Elon is neoliberal, and doesn’t see anything beyond his neoliberal obsessions.
Yes, Trump is also neoliberal. Everybody is neoliberal. I’m neoliberal. But it’s a question of degree. Musk is out-there neoliberal compared to the rest of us. That’s why he can’t function without huge doses of drugs.
Or maybe all these labels are meaningless now.
Republicans used to be about fiscal responsibility, that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.

Nobody is about fiscal responsibility once they get into office.

That’s why Yarvin says democracy is bad. Politicians care about being elected, and nobody dares introduce crucial measures that will be disliked. It’s always about playing up to the lowest common denominator. And the budget is the perfect example. Everybody hates the national debt but who’s willing to give anything up to balance the budget? That would be precisely nobody.

Funnily enough, the president who balanced the budget in SA also got the biggest popular vote. Most of his supporters didn’t know what the budget was, and popular support was the least of his considerations.
