Hippie Costume

A woman at work asked if I was dressed like a hippie for Halloween. This is how I was dressed:

I deeply dislike hippies, so now I’m rethinking the dress.

  1. “rethinking the dress”

The top does look a little like something a hippy would have (though female hippies didn’t wear dresses so much, usually there wore pants).

Mostly it’s the combination of the top and the hair worn down like that creates a mild hippy vibe. Appropriately bourgeouis jewellry could overcome that. Pearls would be good for that.

    1. Probably should ask somebody that was actually there, basically there was no pattern, that was the entire point. You are correct that pearls or a cross would stand out, but other than that anything went. Girls generally had long hair, but wore anything from peasant blouses to colourful psychedelic t-shirts, and from embroidered bell bottom jeans to short skirts to full dresses — different, but not as strange as now ;-D

  2. You look smoking hot in hippie finery! If you went full Flower Girl and sold posters of yourself in tie-dye you’d make a million dollars.

  3. That woman is rude and passive-aggressive. From the years on your blog, I know you like soft, feminine clothing in a variety of colors and often with print. You’re dressed in alignment with your personal style (which btw suits you very well, you look great!) which someone who works with you and sees you on the regular would definitely know. That woman is just being a dick.
