Obviously, I hate the Iranian regime. And I feel terrible for the protesters. And, as I said before, I know very little about the country.
So the reason why I think it’s a stupid idea for the US to bomb Iran might not be my most brilliant one. But I do think it’s valid, which is why I’ll express it.
Iranians are going to hate us for it. Every time we bomb somebody not of our civilization* to bring them freedom, they end up hating us. Even if they proceed to enjoy the freedom. Why do we need to antagonize Iranians “for their own benefit”? Let them figure it out. Absolutely any engagement will lead to them hating us and pouting for the next three million years.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I’m also very tired with the obsessive concentration on foreign policy when domestic issues are unsolved. I live here. I want things to get better here. That’s my #1 issue.
Input is welcome but I beg people to abstain from drawing parallels between Venezuela and Iran because that just makes me very sad.
*Example of somebody of our civilization who did manage to not hate us for bombing them is Germany.

The short answer is no. The long answer boils down to no, but its a lot more nuanced.
First off, we have no declaration of war. It was unlawful for Obama to do drone strikes, and it is unlawful for Trump to do bombings. Quick retaliations are allowed as shown under the President being allowed to deploy the military without a declaration of war by congress for up to 90 days. This is not a retaliation, this would be a first strike.
Secondly, and I will try not to draw parallels to Venezuela, but the difference between Germany/Japan and the various Middle Eastern Nations we bombed is a mix of the aftermath, and the culture. Both Germany and Japan had very similar to Western at the time Cultures. So we weren’t also trying to force their people to change culture. Second there was an immediate threat to both that lasted for decades, long enough for the surviving population to be replaced with a population that didn’t experience the bombings. Here there is no such thing. We bomb them, and afterwards without an external threat that is not us, we become the target of their anger from the violation of their sovereignty, and the bombing of their lands.
Think of it this way. We might despise the leftist and think what they are doing is horrible, but if another nation came in and kidnapped Gavin Newsome or blew up a BLM headquarters, we would be furious. Sure our enemies were removed from the board, but it wasn’t nation X’s right to do so. They violated our national sovereignty and nation X would be hated by the leftists and the center and the right would likely never trust them again in their lifetimes.
Third this sets an extremely bad precedent. A basic law of nature is don’t do to others what you would not want done to you. Also known as what goes around comes around. If our government keeps blatantly and openly interfering in the affairs of other nations. And I am not talking about the tariffs, blockades, or refusing entry those are all standard actions taken by any form of government. I am talking about openly hostile actions, bombing, kidnapping, seizing ships, etc. Then it opens us up to other nations willing to do the same. At the same time, nations who are generally our allies are less and less likely to support us if push comes to shove.
Lastly you are entirely correct that he really should be focus on domestic issues. He was elected to seal the border, send back the illegals, and break the corruption in DC. He was not elected to invade, bomb, etc other nations no matter how evil their governments are. Because and I cannot stress this point enough. We are not at war with them.
I am really not happy with Trump right now. Although I suppose I should not be surprised. Between Israel burning all their political power, favors, etc. in pursuit of their Greater Israel Project, and our Government needing massive distractions from our current problems. And lastly the 10 Kingdoms being divied up for the reign of the Antichrist, well I can see how all this is occurring now of all times.
