BREAKING: Axios reports that there is evidence that US war with Iran is "imminent" and Israel is preparing for a scenario of "war within days," which is expected to include:

2. Joint US-Israeli…

Sigh.
I don’t like it, but also with this admin: I don’t believe anything speculative in the press. Until it actually happens, it’s just the press.

According to your theory the american public must be clamoring for war, which is why Trump is expending his political capital on this. Right? The american public doesn’t want mass deportations, that’s why he’s not doing it. The american public wants a war with Iran, which is why he’s going ahead with it.
Aren’t we blessed to be living in a country where our leaders follow the will of the people to the letter?

If crowds of voters come out into the streets demanding war and nobody comes out against it, then yes, we’ll know they want it.

Verbal sophistry. Here’s what you’ve said:
Which presumably means he’s gaining political capital by pushing through this war.
Or one can adopt the more simpler and saner explanation that the actions of our political leaders are divorced from the will of the people. And have been for a long long time.

The rational choice…. calculate as much as possible how much money republican candidates get from rabidly pro-Israeli donors like Paul Singer.
Outbid them.
Politicians only recognize two kinds of loyalty.
-to voting blocs (old people and blacks are the primary blocs in the US, evangelicals/culture warriors seem no longer to be a thing)
-to donors
That’s the system you’re dealing with. Pointing out broken campaign promises has no effect on them unless you can affect one of their sources of power. Trump is effectively a lame duck so he’s also looking for his kids financial futures…

He is gaining political capital. Just in a different country.

Well, maybe he’ll run there after 2028. 😆😆😆

Trump might be the most “fluid” president we’ve had in a very long time. A lot of people have egg on their faces right now.

Because it would have been so much better with Kamala?

Actually yes. No way Kamala’s waging a war with Iran.

She would make no effort to close the border or deport anyone, would not push back against trans madness, would stoke racial grievances, be terrible on Ukraine…. and still do pretty much whatever Israel told her to do.
Has any president in living memory has ever told Israel “No, we’re not doing that.” or “No, you’re not doing that.” ?

Not everything. She’s a chickenshit by nature and those kinds of people don’t do Iraq 2.0. And the jews knew it, which is why elite jewish/neocon support shifted to Trump after October 7. The dem response after October 7 (supporting Israel but still being guarded for the sake of their young base) pretty much guaranteed jewish migration to Trump. Do you really believe Bill Ackman switched to Trump because of “DEI”?
Israelis have been calling for an invasion of Iran for at least the last 30+ years, and even with the jewish stranglehold on american politics since forever, they only seem to have succeeded now with Trump. So yeah, literally every american president in living memory has told them no.

Does everything else outweigh this one thing? The open border, the race-mongering, persecution of speech, men in women’s jails, etc?

I was responding in the context of the imminent war in Iran.

Probably not. But certainly less fluid than Trump.

The border would be very fluid, though.
