But Why? A Riddle

Let’s conduct a little test to see if people understand why these apparently insane stories are coming out of academia. Think back to this morning’s post about the academic awards lottery. What recent political events prompted this change in the way we are now going to manage student awards? There is reason behind every madness and there is a very clear reason behind this particular manifestation of lunacy. What is it? Who can guess?

    I’m not up on current US events, so I want to say Henry Nowak which British liberals are desperate to not ‘politicize’… but that’s probably not it directly…

  2. DEI is illegal. The administration is afraid that professors will favor minority groups in giving out awards.

    1. And that’s how you know that somebody is in American academia. Such awards as, for example, an award for Black women in STEM are no longer allowed. And the administration is now fussing around, trying to make the results look as fair as possible.
