A Local Perv

We are in the midst of a serious heatwave, and parents are looking for indoor activities for their kids. The bookstore is a big local favorite for families to hang out with children.

When we arrived at the bookstore today, we discovered that a very middle-aged man in a skirt, rainbow pigtails, and makeup was sitting in the bookstore café. He could have easily gone to a bar. Instead, he chose to display his little girl outfit in a place where the audience for his performance is limited almost entirely to parents with small children and retirees. Practicing his fetish in front of little kids is the whole point. The cafe was almost entirely empty because, even in spite of the heat, parents understood that the guy was there to provoke a conflict and kept the children out of there. All it would take is one toddler to ask, “Mommy, why does that man look like that?” and the crossdresser, who sat with his phone at the ready, would start freaking out and filming.

    Well done to the parents for keeping the children away, but self- punishment is still bad.

    When I was a child there was a children’s bookshop that did not allow visiting by adults without children in tow.

    Today still, both London and Milan have public gardens where no adults are allowed unless accompanied by children under ten: Coram’s Fields, and Giardini di Villa Reale, respectively.

    Who knows, maybe the owner could institute the same rule – it’s a private space – and make it so that no adults are allowed into the bookstore café if they are not accompanying children there.

    What a disgusting, narcissistic perv!

      What’s particularly notable is that this guy was not a transgender person in the standard sense of the word. He wasn’t trying to pass as a woman. The whole point was to look as grotesque as possible. He’s not the T; he’s the Q. Queerness is a completely different phenomenon than transgenderism. The whole point is to destabilize social norms, make as big of a nuisance out of oneself as possible. Their fetish is not the specific female clothing or underwear. It’s the discomfort and disgust of the people around them.

      This is one of the reasons why the LGBTQ etc. umbrella doesn’t make sense. Causing rejection and disgust is the opposite of what most gay people want. But for the Q, it’s all about standing out, provocation, making certain that everybody notices that they refuse to fit in.

      Trans people also suffer because of the Q. These are people who experience terrible psychological pain. Their suffering is completely real. They go to extreme lengths to pass as the opposite sex. I have profound compassion for what they go through, even though I do not believe that their condition should be treated medically and surgically. Leaving that aside, however, the provocative queers, like the one from the bookstore yesterday, turn the transgender condition into mockery. Most people are not familiar with these distinctions, and they confuse yesterday’s perv with an actual transgender person. In reality, the perv is the exact opposite of a trans person.

      The support for gay rights is dropping off a cliff. In my opinion, this is the result of allowing a few pervy exhibitionists to hijack the whole movement. The overwhelming majority of gay people are absolutely normal, regular people. But precisely because they are normal, the provocative, showy creeps are so visible. Take, for example, the outlandish behavior at the recent pride parades in Seattle and other places. The gay people I know wouldn’t be caught dead swinging their naked genitals in front of toddlers. Sadly, what gets visibility and attention is the tiny minority of perverts giving a bad name to everybody else.

        how do you think trans people’s condition(if it’s fair to call it that) should be treated ? What are workable alternatives to the prevailing narrative ?

          If we’re talking male autogynephile, this is somebody who will not seek help because it is his sexual fetish. But in the situation of a young man or woman who is unhappy with their bodies because of physical or psychological abuse (which is what it normally is), a standard psychoanalyst could resolve it in under six months.

          Psychological problems should be resolved by psychologists, not surgeons.

            I forgot to mention that, among teenage girls, this is not necessarily a result of abuse but can also be caused by their mother’s diagnosis or fears of breast cancer. They hit puberty just as Mom starts undergoing the yearly mammo. It messes with their heads, especially if there is a bad diagnosis.
