Are Women Cats?

Here is a quote from a post that received an enormous number of likes from women:

One of the hardest things to explain to men is just how much hormones and their shift affect the way we women think, feel and experience the world.

It goes on and on, explaining in great detail how women are completely ruled by their hormones and are incapable of making rational decisions or keeping their physiology in check. It is one of an enormous number of posts all arguing something similar to this.

What I find hard to understand is how the same women who publish and like these posts can possibly defend women’s right to vote, work, conduct banking operations, or own property. The women they describe are much closer to my cat than to an actual human being. You can’t let cats run civilization, and if women are truly so incapable of getting a handle on their physicality (which I most certainly believe is utterly untrue), then they shouldn’t be out without adult supervision.

Of course, the authors of these posts are being dishonest. They most certainly can control their “hormonal shifts” when they need to. Right now in Ukraine, women work, give birth, raise children, and operate drones under daily bombings and extreme stress of active warfare. Not a peep comes out of them regarding hormonal shifts.

Another aspect of the current debate on female physiology is that it presents pregnancy and childbirth as rendering women into a state of complete loss of agency and depersonalization. We already don’t have great fertility rates. None of this is helpful.

This entire argument is completely self-defeating to women who are politically both on the left and on the right.

At this point, I’m sympathetic to the idea that women should not be allowed to use social media. The fake social-engagement-dopamine-hacking thing does weird things to their brains. Some things I’d miss, but it’d be a reasonable sacrifice for the greater good.

But I enjoy being able to own things, drive, and go in public without a male relative, so…

Matt Walsh put some videos from women who support Clancy in his show today. One woman says that the husband must have killed the children because his birthday is in July. It’s something to do with astrological signs. An adult woman took time out of her day to post something like this. And it’s not even the craziest video. There are much, much worse. From the way these women speak, it is clear these are all middle-class women, probably with college degrees. It’s all very sad.

Any respectable astrologer could tell you that someone’s sign doesn’t mean a thing unless you know the precise year, date, and time down to the minute, that they were born. What planets were in what houses and all that. These people are amateurs 😉

“His birthday is several days before Trump’s! You know what that means!”

            Amateurs, I tell you.

I had an aunt who was a professional. She’d’ve run them out of town on her flying broomstick 😉

” someone’s sign doesn’t mean a thing unless you know the precise”

Had a close friend who, if never professional, knew more about astrology than about 99.9 percent of the population. She did my chart (lday and time as close as I knew and city).

I had asked because I’m in the cusp between two signs (some listings have the day as the first, others as the second). She was also curious.

Takeaways: My planets were unusually… concentrated in a couple of signs and finally she couldn’t tell which sign I was (the real professionals don’t believe in cusps apparently) and said she’d need a computer to really settle the question.

A retired professional did my father’s chart once (no one asked, she just did it) and it was very accurate though I’m not sure how much of it was astrology and how much was observation and inference and I’m not sure if he was sure where he was born (he grew up in the dirt poor south before universal accurate birth certificates were a thing and there was some doubt even regarding the year).
