I can’t imagine anybody thinking that this isn’t great. Very, very positive developments.

I am also heartened by this news, but I’d like to know if the stats include govt contractors. Like, is it a real reduction in govt workforce numbers, or some sleight of hand where stuff got shifted from official employees to “privatized” employees?

–This seems to be largely the result of cracking down on fraud in the program, and increasing the able-bodied work requirement. There’ve been some notable prosecutions of high-volume SNAP laundering operations like little bodegas turning over millions in snap transactions… that basically amount to purchasing the cards at a discount for cash, or ringing up liquor sales as groceries.
