She does not look 15 years younger, but her maturity level is lower than that of most teenagers. Only a very immature, unintelligent woman would put her physical appearance at the center of a public debate in such an aggressive way. Anybody with even a little bit of life experience would know that the public eye is unkind and social media are unforgiving. She looks nice, but she’s about to hear the most unflattering opinions about her physique.

Being afraid of your own age and wanting to look 15 years younger is sad in a person in her 50s. In a life that develops normally and achieves all of the developmental goals on time, age is neither shameful nor scary. If even your 50s don’t bring you the freedom from obsessing over your appearance, then when are you going to be free from it?

I’m in my late 40s and I’m a little sad when I look in the mirror sometimes. I was never the most beautiful woman and I’ve lost even what I had. On the other hand, I was never going to keep it in the long run anyway so I decided a long time ago that there were more important things. I look at my many beautiful children and remember that there is more than one way to give what you cannot keep for the hope of something you cannot lose.

I hope to someday gain the beauty of a gentle and peaceful spirit.

In related news, I’m starting to go gray at the temples and I am digging it. This is the coolest hair color I have ever had 😀 After three kids and seventeen years of marriage, I got nothing to prove. Scheming to have grandkids within ten years…

Like seriously, I get up in the morning, comb out my hair, and admire the incipient gray streaks in the mirror. I am so hoping they will turn out like my favorite auntie’s.

I do think she looks younger.
I like my grey steak but not the gray random hairs nor the thinning. the aging of my skin happened rapidly near menopause. I tend to see myself in my mind as I was about 15yrs ago, so the mirror is at times a surprise. Photos more so, as they flatten and make me look like my chin is one with my neck. I definitely have other things I enjoy thinking about. Sometimes I feel young inside and that is nice, other times I am tired.

I’m most impressed by her neck.
