A huge house with a 4-car garage in the neighborhood has a “Hillary for prison” sticker in every window. My heart bleeds for the poor downtrodden folks who have been impoverished by trade deals and ended up in this mansion.
Intrusion of the Private
I’m as opposed to the institution of First Gentleman as I am to that of the First Lady. I believe in the separation between the public and the private and don’t want politicians’ relatives to be forced upon my notice. It’s way too easy to use cute kids, attractive spouses, heroic parents and inspiring grandparents to distract us from what a politician is actually doing.
Of course, I understand that people’s appetite for who sleeps with whom is unquenchable and we are doomed to see the private colonize the public until it’s completely obliterated. But I don’t want any part of it. Which is why I didn’t watch Bill Clinton’s speech. And it’s just as well because it’s being discussed by everybody in terms of the most outlandish sexist stereotypes. It’s like everybody has gone dumb as a result of hearing the speech.
DNC
The DNC is phenomenally organized. I’m very impressed. All the more of a shame it is that the person who did all the organizing had to be ousted over a ridiculous prejudice against her.
Tough in Canada
A speaker at the DNC said that Hillary is ready to face really tough opponents from Russia China, and. . . Canada. Love Canada but who’s all that tough over there?

Vermont Delegation
Bernie has joined the Vermont delegation. I’m in tears again.
This is very moving. So many good people together in the arena.
Roll Call
Even the roll call is better at the DNC. What the rules were at the RNC I still haven’t figured out.
Loving the roll call. Overall, I can’t remember a DNC I enjoyed more. (But I never watched before this century, for obvious reasons.)
Tovarisch Trump
The researchers, at Arlington, Va.-based ThreatConnect, traced the self-described Romanian hacker Guccifer 2.0 back to an Internet server in Russia and to a digital address that has been linked in the past to Russian online scams. Far from being a singly, sophisticated hacker, Guccifer 2.0 is more likely a collection of people from the propaganda arm of the Russian government meant to deflect attention away from Moscow as the force behind the DNC hacks and leaks of emails, the researchers found.
Well, duh. Who else could it have possibly been? Who owns Snowden and Assange? Who’s managed to get every publication in the US to echo the same ridiculous story about Ukraine’s revolution and the invasion of Ukraine in 2014? Who is very successfully moving its puppet towards the White House?
Hmm, what was that about winning the Cold War? Has nobody heard of sacrificing a piece in chess in order to win the game?
Bullying Second Graders
This is about second graders. SECOND GRADERS. Small kids! I mean, huh? What kind of a horrible school does this kind of thing? I don’t care what “high stakes” these idiots think are involved in the testing, you don’t do this kind of vile shit to second graders.
Baby Management
So remember my efforts to stop being the baby manager?
They bore beautiful fruit.
I wake up, and the baby is fed and changed, the baby laundry is done, the cover on the changing pad is fresh, and the diaper pail is clean. I don’t tell N to do any of these things before going to work. I’m not his boss or the baby manager. He does it because I managed to remove myself out of the way.
I lost many opportunities as a result. I can’t blame a demanding baby, an oblivious husband and a sexist society for not working on my research. I can’t enjoy an easy sense of superiority over N, I can’t relish the joys of victimhood. And I can’t write a weepy post about the horrors of motherhood that would attract thousands of links and hits.
