Doing Less with Less

I have received an invitation to the following conference:

Announcing the 2nd Annual Illinois Online Higher Education Symposium, “Doing Less with Less, Effectively”

I am not going to participate, obviously, but the cult of austerity has become comical.

Well, at least the organizers have recognized that “online teaching” tends towards doing less and less.

Panicky

JD Vance is clearly panicking as his chances for a presidency are being erased:

I don’t like him so I don’t care but it’s funny how the poor dude is jumping up and down like a trained seal in this long and confused tweet.

Went Downhill

OK, I’m willing to accept the working hypothesis advanced by Omar that things went downhill in this country after she showed up. I definitely feel the decline every time I hear her screeching voice.

Principles

This is from last night in Kyiv:

No, I’m not in favor of preventative bombings of sleeping people because you don’t like their regime. I’m not on the side of this no matter where it happens.

Preventative

It would be really bizarre if I, of all people, suddenly supported preventative invasions and regime-change-motivated bombings of peaceful cities. It would truly be the definition of hypocrisy.

Positive Message of the Day

Well, at least Canada is even more stupid:

That’s my positive message of the day, my friends. It’s downhill from here.

A Harsh Cope

The cope is so harsh, I actually feel bad for both these dudes:

The evidence that Trump knows what he’s doing and has been very proactive in this situation is overwhelming but yes, let’s totally hide from reality. It’s worked so well so far.

Influence

You can exert no influence if you are not susceptible to influence.

Carl Jung.

The very special cookies who prattle incessantly about how they can never be influenced, persuaded or tricked are imaginatively excluding themselves from the normal fabric of human relationships. They are fragile. Everything around them crumbles on contact.

Sluggish Soldiers

Turns out, my colleague was right, there was a parade.

People routinely get upset when I say that the US army is pathetic but look at this. These soldiers are sluggish, slouched, low-energy. Many of them are overweight. They look like prisoners of war marching towards captivity.

If you watch this and feel that the soldiers project strength and confidence, then you probably need eyeglasses.
