The Anglo Prestige

A judge in Australia ruled that sex is changeable

Have you noticed how it’s always English-speaking countries? Everybody else then apes them because the Anglo prestige is unbeatable but the source is always Anglo.

I love the English-speaking world with an uncommon passion, which is why it hurts to see that it’s begun to eat itself.

“The world is unknowable. Everything is subjective. There’s no objective reality we can observe and name.” These ideas are wrong. They are an illusion. We need to let them go. Reality exists. Beauty exists. Truth exists. And they all can be known and named by human beings. There’s no individual truth. No individual standard of beauty. We can learn what the truth is but we can’t make our own. We can observe the laws of nature but we can’t create our own. Not everything is changeable. Freedom is not absolute but highly circumscribed by the limitations of our physicality.

Please, dear Anglos, let’s move away from the erroneous belief that everything is relative and, hence, changeable. It’s not. You are talking yourself (and everybody else as well because of the Anglo prestige) into a very bad place.

ISIS in Volgograd

I’ve seen a lot of conformations, so there’s definitely something to the news about a group of ISIS fighters overtaking a jail in Volgograd, Russia:

P.S.  The authorities are urgently flying a mullah to the jail to help calm down the ISIS dudes. Thanks to Russia’s enormous distances and the notorious Russian problems with transportation, the mullah will take at least 1,5 hours to get to the jail. The ISIS fighters can do a lot of damage before then.

Book Recommendation Thanks

Whoever recommended Miranda July’s All Fours, good person, you. I’m very grateful.

Full review to follow when I’m finished but I’m very glad I listened to your advice and got into this book.

Wanted to express my gratitude as soon as possible. Keep the recommendations coming since you clearly know what kind of stuff I might like. I didn’t expect to like this novel and was very skeptical but it’s definitely worth it.

Tim Walz’s Son

One thing that got to me from the snippets of the DNC that I saw was the reaction of Tim Walz’s son. I felt exactly this way about my Dad. Still do, in fact. It’s been over two years since he died but it’s still raw.

Tim Walz’s son is a special needs boy, so he expresses himself more openly than I ever could but the feeling is the same. How wonderful for this boy to have such a relationship with his Dad. What a gift a great father is.

Any child is eager to feel like this about the parents if they give the tiniest chance.

Paraphilias and Consent

I was just in the elevator with a very tall, burly dude (I’d say, at least 6″5) dressed in a mini dress and with a huge, spiky BDSM collar. I was alone with him in a small elevator. He wasn’t trans anything. He was a man who wasn’t remotely trying to pass as anything other than a man.

There’s no reason for this man to be dressed like that at 2 pm in a work setting other than to force strangers to participate in his paraphilia. I have not consented to participate, yet I had to because he can force me and I can’t object.

A Dangerous Path

This is absolutely terrible and wrong:

If we continue to go in this direction, we’ll turn into the UK where police harass people for Twitter and Facebook posts.

Cherish Perish

This reminds me of that horrible reality TV show where people who sang very badly were duped into thinking they were winning a talent competition while all the time the viewers knew that it was all done in mockery. It was heartbreaking to watch those poor participants who kept singing in complete earnestness their off-key songs and making perfect fools of themselves.

Why is this poor young woman being exhibited like a circus freak? It’s not her fault she’s cognitively challenged. This is painful to watch.

Equitable Budget

Today we received our new, “equitable” budgets. We sustained downright ridiculous cuts. The money for office supplies was cut down to a pittance. Student wages were mowed down exactly at the time when hourly wage went up in accordance with state law. Travel support is eliminated. Academic memberships went down to zero. Contractual services cut by 60%.

We were told not to call these “budget cuts.” No, these are not cuts at all, we are told. These are “equitable reallocations.” You can’t be against them because it means you are against equity. What are you, far-right or something to be against equity?

Hiring freezes have a new name, too. They are called “strategic position realignments.”

Vova + Michelle= ❣️

What she says is extremely similar to Putin’s stated rationale for invading Ukraine. For both Michelle Obama and Putin, a nation-state is a limiting fiction that shouldn’t exist. Many people fail to see the extraordinary similarities between the narratives advanced by Putin and lefty US elites but these similarities are evident.

They simply don’t understand why nations are necessary. The concept of a country is not part of their cognitive framework. They don’t operate with it. Both Michelle Obama and Putin are completely sincere. They are fabulously rich and they want the fluid existence of very rich people where nothing limits their movement. They have no idea why the rest of us don’t get it.

The Obamas as a Spiritual Oasis

He also said, “The Obamas renewed the magic of the movement…It was a sacred task.”

Spiritual oasis, magic, sacred task – investing politicians with a religious significance is a terrible idea. There is no magic at a political convention. Politicians are fallible human beings. We shouldn’t deify them. The whole idea behind the creation of America is that politicians are not anointed by God. They come and go, and we keep them in check by refusing to grant them any legitimacy beyond what we specifically hire them to do.

Personality cults are not a good idea. Treating politics as a transcendent, religious activity is wrong.
