A Statement of Contempt

If you blogged about the breast-feeding professor but are not blogging about the unconscionable actions of CUNY’s Karen Steele and her attempts to destroy the department of English, I despise you.

If people don’t want to blog about either issue, that’s perfectly fine. I have nothing against those who are not into this kind of blogging. But idiots who promote the breast-feeding story as some sort of news and pretend not to notice egregious abuses happening within academia deserve my profound contempt.

  1. IMO, there is no need to despise anyone. People have different ways of approaching problems, according to personal or cultural circumstances. Very little, if anything, is achieved by despising. Well yes, maybe feelings of anger because others have not responded in the way we expected/wanted them to do. I think there are alternative ways to reveal others the importance of getting involved to everybody’s benefit. Besides, as the Spanish say goes: ” En la mesa y en el juego se conoce al caballero”.

      – Do you want to control my feelings? 🙂

      – I don’t try to achieve anything by my emotions. I just feel them.

      1. I have no interest whatsoever in controlling yours or anyone’s feelings. Controlling my emotions is about enough.
Approaching problems and achieving solutions imply taking actions and actions are always accompanied by feelings. I know that you are not a robot.

    1. You didn’t write about the stupid breast-feeding story, though, did you? My contempt is reserved for the people who hounded a professor with a sick baby after she practically begged everybody to let the story go.

      1. She didn’t beg everyone to let the story go. She wrote about it herself first. And I did blog about it before I got around the CUNY story…
