American political scene never ceases to surprise me. The moment I think that I have finally reached a basic understanding of who’s what, I encounter yet another fascinating twist. Seriously, who needs mystery novels when you can just follow this country’s politics?
Today, I discovered a person called Lyndon LaRouche. Here is what he had to say about Putin’s decision to elect himself Russia’s president:
The Putin-Medvedev decision is actually a sign of hope for all mankind. What is required now is for the American population to dump its British-puppet President, and join with Russia and China to form the Great Pacific Alliance that can rescue mankind.
“This alliance is already in the making, as of the Putin-Medvedev announcement yesterday. Now is the time for American patriots to move decisively to dump Obama so we can join it, and take the necessary measures to save every section of the planet from an otherwise-inevitable collapse into the future envisioned by the British financial empire—depopulation and death.”
We have a joke in my country about this very old gentleman who had been a guerrilla fighter during World War II. Nobody told him that the war was over, so he continued derailing trains and blowing up soldiers’ quarters for decades after the war ended. It seems like Lyndon LaRouche is precisely this kind of person who keeps fighting a non-existent war with the long-defunct British Empire.
Is anybody aware of this politician? Feel free to enlighten me.
He’s an extremist, an almost cult-like figure who began on the left and ended up right of right field.. A conspiracy theorist, anti-Semite, many would say a Fascist. He’s been in jail. He’s run for president but he’s political poison so mainstream politicians of all stripes avoid all association with him.

A Democrat fascist? This is something new to me, indeed.

Why do you think he is a Democrat? He is not. Look him up in Wikipedia. He is completely fringe, to the right of the John Birch Society. By the way, I thought he had died decades ago.

I found this on Wikipedia: LaRouche was a perennial presidential candidate from 1976 to 2004, running once for his own U.S. Labor Party and campaigning seven times for the Democratic Party nomination. This was what confused me initially.

Named confuse, but he is not a Democrat. He is a loony.

Oh yes, he’s very very deluded.
A loony is a one-dollar coin in Canada, by the way. 🙂 Have you ever visited our beautiful country? I was once walking down the street with my friend from Lujan and she started singing a tango by Gardel (to make fun of him, of course). By the end of the tango, we had a group of Argentinians walking behind us, singing the tango with her. 🙂

Is that fucktard still alive? I remember him in the 80’s saying something about AIDS like “people who kill gay people are the only force for good” Surely he must be closing on being 90-100 by now? I got to go and google and see if it is the same guy.

OK, now I’m really confused. If he said this kind of ridiculously stupid rubbish, then why is he considered to be Left wing?
I just don’t get it. One has to be a truly vile jerk to say something like this.

From wiki: He said “a person with AIDS running around is like a person with a machine gun running around”, and that people who lynched gays might be remembered as the “only political force which acted to save the human species from extinction.”

What a horrible, disgusting, vile individual. I’m speechless right now.

Throw every crackpot conspiracy theory into a large kettle, add some *-isms to add flavor and stir and you get the LaRouche movement.
I don’t know much about the LaRouge dude himself, but his wife Helga Zepp is the leader of her husbands movement here and everything that you can possibly get wrong, they get wrong.
They are economical hippies, but deny climate change. They claim that the world is secretly ruled by the British empire (it still exists secretly, because the zionist conspiracy does not want to expose them!!). They are also holocaust deniers.
They also believe that the only way to end the oppressive rule of the British is by crashing finances around the world, because without money, the entire world would resolve into a culture of global understanding and everyone would live happy thereafter.
Oh and most hilariously is that they think they are the ideological successors to Karl Marx, Rosa Luxemburg and Friedrich Schiller (and a few others, probably only their german wing) and want to be seen as the ones who are implementing their grand plan for a bright future.
Oh and they are also known to try and recruit Jews as double-agents to expose the secret global zionist government.

I meant kettle -.-
Forgive me, the grammar and spelling forces are not with me today.

Economical hippies and global warming deniers, eh? That makes as much sense believing that the Zionists would protect the British Empire. Poor Marx is turning in his grave.

LaRouche is best known for his followers who try to latch onto travelers at aiports and preach the Gospel of LaRouche to them. The man’s followers were less welcome than the other religious importuners, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Hari Krishna, good ol’ boy “Chick tract” evangelists (google “Chick comics”), and the like.

“British-puppet President”?
I was under the assumption that the President held much more sway over our Prime Minster than the other way around.
Just take the whole Blair/Bush Iraq thing, for example.

Oh, I agree with you completely. This is obviously a very deluded individual.
