Dangerous Drug

From a student’s essay:

The protagonist of the novel is addicted to her abusive relationship with her husband. This is like an addiction to coffee, which is a dangerous drug that can cause untold damage to an addict’s health.

The student is probably from some sect, right?

Only Mormons believe that about coffee, so far as I know.

Is it possible we have Mormons around here?

Maybe. You could search for churches locally and see if there are any Mormon places of worship available.

Dangerous? He should have used alcohol as an example.

(even though he’s right about the danger for coffee addicts: there’s even Tylenol addicts)

What an hilarious comparison! Coffee and an abusive husband – you’d almost think he or she was being facetious or ironic except for the crazy health comment.

If s/he’d wanted to use a drug that sounded credible, heroin would have been a more appropriate choice in my opinion as it’s addictive, toxic and destructive, and so more like a relationship with an abusive man.

    Mormons?

I’ve recently read a number of “studies” that show that cvoffee is good for you. I don’t know how accurate they are, but I like the thought. I don’t know any studies that say abusive spouses are good for you.

With a moderate consumption, coffee is healthy.
