Why There Will Be More Drones and Kill Lists

As a conclusion to our discussion about the drones and kill lists, here is an announcement I just received:

This morning during Deans’ Council, the Provost informed us that by directive from the Chancellor, we need to prepare a 5% (ca. 1.2 million dollars) budget cutting exercise for FY14 (July 1st, 2013 – June 30th., 2014). This is just the beginning of a larger process that will culminate with a total possible reduction of budget of 25% over the next three years.

I rest my case. If we refuse to educate our population and make it competitive on the world arena, what is left to preserve our standard of living? Just think about it.

Of course, instead of trying to see the connections between these phenomena, we could continue getting angry with me for not joining the ultra-productive hand-wringing over the drones.

Hopefully the money will go to the right places. Technology and STEM education are the future and the key to competing globally with China and India. Australia and the U.S. are behind them in math and science.

I have also changed my mind about joining the armed forces after reading this.

It would go against my principles and I’m also reapplying back to the college that I went to over the summer. I just hope it doesn’t backfire this time. I have regrets about not attending school last Fall and this Spring, but I needed to figure out what I wanted to study.

    Social welfare and Health are more important for me. (even though social welfare would not be an issue in an Anarchy)

fewer people are going to college because it won’t get you a job. We out spend everyone on education and we have a worse economy. Education is just another bullshit socialist madrassa in this country anyway. People aren’t learning anything there anyway so that money has been used counterproductively. University staffs are bloated with worthless people.

  If you honestly believe that having nothing but a high school diploma will allow you to survive in today’s world, then you are very deluded. The high school diploma in the US is worthless and will not even keep you at a minimum wage.

According to the ABC news chanel they have to make room for a $1.1 million increase in salaries for the top ten administrators next year.

The state also owes $485 million to the university which will probably not be paid but was included in the prior budgeting process so this has to be calculated into future budgets and only 25% of the income comes from students so guess where future increases in revenue will come from?

Now your university funding will be tied to revenues from gambling.

“Illinois’ gambling expansion bill (S.B. 1739) would give away another $5 billion to $10 billion in potential tax revenue to gambling owners. It partially ties pension funding and education money to illusory gambling revenue, including speculative and legally questionable Internet gambling.”

The state has been reduced to this due to being outed on pension fraud by the federal Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) earlier this month.

“An SEC investigation revealed that Illinois failed to inform investors about the impact of problems with its pension funding schedule as the state offered and sold more than $2.2 billion worth of municipal bonds from 2005 to early 2009. Illinois failed to disclose that its statutory plan significantly underfunded the state’s pension obligations and increased the risk to its overall financial condition. The state also misled investors about the effect of changes to its statutory plan.”
