Somebody has trained the waiters at our university restaurant to act in an intolerably obsequious, fawning, and subservient fashion.
I’m considering leaving my meal without finishing it because I feel like I’m in the midst of “Celebrate the Confederacy” month. This is very uncomfortable.

Of course, if the advocates are making such piss-poor arguments, they will lose:
“”Women have been fighting for 50 years saying maternity leave is not unemployment, they are not the same thing,” Beeman said.”
– OK, this is very good. But see the following:
“When I am on maternity leave after having given birth, I am probably working harder than I ever have; I am not getting any sleep and providing for the needs of the family.”
– Seriously??? What a blathering idiot, this one.

This is not an argument, of course.

You have to remember that it’s the sesquicentennial of the American Civil War and the “South will rise again” with lots of historical reenactments of battles around America drumming up interest in the Confederacy. My eldest daughter (by 11 minutes) met a guy from up in the mountains of western North Carolina where they fly the “Stars and Bars” and talk about the “War of Northern Aggression” on an archeological dig in southern Italy two summers ago so I’m going to have to go on a road trip down south one of these days to check out my prospective Confederate In-laws.
