Tornado Damage

It physically hurts me to see trees destroyed like this. Each tree is precious in our climate.

The corpses of trees have been lying around since last Friday’s tornado.

  1. I remember that when I was a kid living in the suburbs my neighbours disliked trees because they were “dirty”, they hide the sun, and they left leaves in their swimming pools. I do not think that things have changed.

This is one of the many reasons why I left that place when I was 17.

  2. Welcome to the Midwest. It is always a pity when an old but living tree goes down in high wind. Time to chop it up for firewood and plant a new tree at the site (or see if the old stump generates a sapling the next year). One hopes that land owners remove any standing dead trees (aka “widowmakers”) on a regular basis to reduce the hazard.
