I think ‘obedient object’ is not the entire issue. It seems he really wants to stay where he is no matter the cost to anyone else.
I’m sure a lot of counselling all the way around is called for but that’s not liable to happen in Abu Dhabi. It will be interesting to see what happens to his phobia once the family’s money does finally give out.

The boy was born when his father was over fifty. I’m betting he will now easily manage to protract this extended vacation for as long as he wants. I like the very British sense of humor the boy has. 🙂
But I’m sure the father is having the time of his life sacrificing himself for the boy. So everybody is happy.

I read this and thought that ignorance is one of the gravest dangers to society. Surely, those people have very different values from me, but ignorance plays a huge role too. Americans should have not how it’s now called sex-ed, but body-and-biology ed compulsory for all students *before* high school about how human bodies work, including contraception too. Look:

This is obviously a very sick, disturbed person. Tragically, she is in the position to wreck lives instead of getting help for her sickness. I don’t even think this is ignorance as such. I think this is lack of mental health.
