I mostly trust President Obama. But, as a mathematician, I recognize that it is necessary to carefully parse what he says. He often does not say what he seems at first glance to be saying.

Rule of thumb: never trust a politician, he will throw you under the bus if it furthers his goals and he can get away with it.
There was a case a couple of years ago when two prominent politicians were hugging themselves and declaring their close ties, almost brotherhood… and not a week later one forced the other to quit the party.

And there are also these passionate Obama supporters who have been fantasizing about him and Sara Palin, of all the weird fetishes to entertain. 🙂
