Do Such Comments Have Entertainment Value?

I often get comments from very weird individuals who write things like:

I have never read anything feminist’s has written that I would consider wise, logical, pertinent, reasonable, or scientific. Its statement that it is known for its sound judgment, unerring foresight, and sagacious adaptation of means to ends is no exception. What’s more, it makes a lot of exaggerated claims. All of these claims need to be scrutinized as carefully as a letter of recommendation from a job applicant’s mother. Consider, for example, feminist’s’s claim that everything is happy and fine and good.

These comments are very long, very convoluted, and very unhealthy. Should I let some of them through? Will they entertain? Or am I right in discarding them as garbage? Usually, I simply delete them but things like “feminist’s’s seem like something that should be preserved for posterity.

  1. Horrendous comments always give me a good chuckle, so I would say leave them, at least leave the extra funny ones 🙂

  2. I don’t even understand what this person is trying to say. It sounds like something written by a poorly programmed word generator (so even the misspelling didn’t strike me as really surprising or funny). Share whatever you like, but I’d recommend just discarding them.

  3. Discard 99.9% of them, unless one of them is very funny by coincidence. This one (imo) is only weird.

NO, it’s “a poorly programmed word generator”, as hkatz said.

  4. He’s saying that the belonging to the feminist can’t guide him through life or give him pastoral care. He’s a bigger man than that. He will continue to look for a leader he can deeply trust.

  5. The greengrocer’s apostrophe will continue to be preserved for posterity by greengrocer’s — pea’s, carrrot’s, tomatoe’s, cabbage’s etc. I’m sure of you Google for “greengrocers apostrophe” you’ll find lots of examples.

  6. Feminists blogs (not only them, though) have the annoying tendency to censor comments they don’t like. Don’t become like them, even though some MRA jerks are fucktards.

      1. I’ve suddenly realized that the original excerpt might be intended as a form letter, for example your or my name could be inserted, to read, “Consider, for example, Jennifer’s claim that everything is happy and fine and good.”

  7. I personally like reading these comments but then I have sort of a weird fascination with the politics of insanity. It’s terrifies me and yet I can’t stop reading. I also find it interesting that the worse a writer someone is, the more likely s/he is anti feminist, anti gay, pro-homeschooling, anti abortion, and rabidly pro gun. As a side note, I had never hear of “MRA activism” until I started reading your blog and some of the comment box arguments. So there is a bit of educational value there. 😉

  8. Leaving aside the apparent cognitive peculiarities, I think the commenter’s spell-checking dictionary most likely contained the genitive singular but no plural forms, leaving the commenter struggling to input the desired words – another clear indication that the comment wasn’t by a bot.
