Out of Bed

One benefit of having had a C-section is that lying down is the most uncomfortable thing you can be doing. You can’t really lie on the side, and how much time can a person spend lying strictly on her back without changing the position? So the temptation to stay in bed crying all day long – which is obviously very strong at this point – is impossible to put into practice. You are physically forced to get out of bed, get dressed, and stay out of the bed all day long.

  1. Well, when processing tragedy, I personally think that sometimes it’s healthy to stay in bed and cry. So I hope you allow yourself some time to do that. That being said, I also think that doing the “little things” like, cooking, putting on makeup, kissing a beloved partner all help immensely. You have a beautiful life and it’s good to remember that. So I’m glad that you are up and moving around. When do you return to the classroom?

    1. Thank you, my friend.

I haven’t had the energy to talk to the HR people yet, so I don’t know when I have to go back to work. I don’t trust them to be extremely sensitive, so I will wait to speak to them. But I still had a major surgery, so I think I will have the usual time that covers it (8 weeks).
