A Ukrainian soldier faints at the inauguration ceremony of the new Ukrainian President

In case anybody was wondering why it’s proving so hard for the Ukrainian army to defeat the Russian terrorists. A soldier can’t even stay on his feet during the presidential inauguration because of how weak he is.

  1. This soldier probably had to stand stock still for an extended period of time – poor blood return from legs. There’s a famous photo of a Buckingham Palace guard passing out. I recommend support hose and periodic isometric calf contraction (which can’t be seen) to “milk” the blood upward for this problem. It happened to me once in the operating room when I was a student holding a retractor during a long procedure – I started getting woozy, asked the nurse to get someone else to hold the retractor, and sat down in the corner with my head between my knees. The nurse later told me that it was the common sign of a novice. Much calf clenching from me on subsequent OR retractor-holding stints.

    1. It was also very hot. But still, he’s a soldier. The new president sent the six military folks who are the boy’s superiors to the front lines as punishment.
