Iran Battles Jihadism

Iran has sent troops to Iraq to combat the terrorist organization ISIS.

Does anybody need any more proof that Iran wants to have a good relationship with the US and have a positive impact on the region?

If there is a distant hope for peace in the region, Iran will be crucial for making this dream reality. This is why I’m always so frustrated by mindless Iran-bashing.

  1. Iran is sending troops to Iraq because the ISIS are the wrong kind of Muslims, not because of any sense of altruism.

      1. The ISIS is Sunni; Iran (and the majority of Iraq) are Shi’ites. The Shi’ites and Sunnis have been killing each other for hundreds of years; the West got over this (excepting some of the neo-Puritans/progressives/Neo-Druids/feminists in the West). Hence the whole ordeal amounts to a religious war, and the fact that the glorious idiots in the West drew national lines with no regard to religion or tribal allegiance.

Iran is as much as a “friend” of the U.S. as Stalin was before/during/after World War II. Probably less because at least Stalin wasn’t a religious fanatic.

  2. After your post, it was so funny to read the following:

WASHINGTON – Iranian deputy minister of intelligence Hojjat al-Eslam Ali Khazaei says terrorists supported β€œby Israel and America” are responsible for the fall of Mosul, Iraq, to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

The statement came as the Iranian gov’t officially denied sending troops over its border with Iraq to aid the defense of Baghdad from Sunni extremists.
