Choosing a Phone

Does anybody have Samsung Galaxy Note? Do you recommend? One thing I really care about is battery life.

P.S. I’ve been using Samsung Glide, and that device has been the bane of my existence. It has the worst battery known to humanity and it just sucks on every level.

  1. Which version do you want, the third or the fourth, which just came out? A friend of my brother has a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and he says it’s quite good and probably has the best battery life of any smartphone out there. My brother thinks that the Note 4 obviously has to be even better. And the Note series are the only phones out there with a built in pen. Note 4 has a big screen with the QHD resolution, which is currently the highest for smartphones. (Note 3 has only HD, which is good too). Their cameras are very good too.

(That’s what my brother says, at least. I am not an expert.)

  2. They (Note 3+4) also have faster charging than other phones.

Btw, to preserve the battery on any phone, it’s recommended to unplug it when it reaches 90-100%, instead of leaving it plugged in for the entire night.

If we’re talking about Android updates, my brother recommends Note 4, since it will probably be updated much faster to the next Android version that comes out in about a month. This next Android version (Android L) promises 20-30% increase in battery life. Of course, my brother suspects it’s going to take them 2-3 months from the release date to update their phones to the new version. Unlike other clean Android devices (Nexus series), which get it immediately upon release. Of course, the latest Nexus (Nexus 5) has 2300 mAh battery, while the Note 4 has 3220 mAh battery. 3220 mAh will probably last around 3 days of normal usage. If that’s not enough, the battery is removable. You can buy several batteries and change them during the day, but you probably won’t need to.

  3. I have a note 3, I love having the bigger screen. The battery is good, it lasts me about a day and a half with about 3 hours of use on my commute there and back and miscellaneous calls and texts throughout the day.

    1. Wow. This is amazing battery. My current Samsung lasts me 3 hours of NO USE. So if it stays in my bag without me even touching it, withing 3 hours the battery goes completely dead.
