Can anybody explain why such a dog-and-pony show is being organized around the verdict in the case against Darren Wilson? Why was the announcement left until the night if the verdict has been in for hours? Why are there countdowns to the announcement? Why are there such enormous efforts to ramp up the drama?
N. believes that this is a result of a contract between the criminal justice system and the TV networks to help them sell more advertisement. I’m trying to be less cynical but seriously, people, WTF? This has been turned into a kangaroo court long before the verdict.
Probably last minute negotiations to try to maintain peace

Verdict? The grand jury only is deciding whether there is enough evidence to have a triaL.* If a trial even happens, it could be 2016 before there’s a verdict.
* Apparently the dead body of an unarmed man who Wilson admits to shooting might not be enough to charge him for a crime.

Paranoid: you left your email address where it could be seen so I edited it out. You need to be more paranoid. 🙂

Contrary to the would-be lynch mob, a three hundred pound thug is not unarmed, and an 18 year old is a man, not a child. Let us all hope nobody else is harmed.

Hmmm, lots of emotion and drama, not much thought and intellect. Sad that.

I’m guessing they’re trying to get the family to participate in the announcement and they’re in negotiations about that.

They didn’t want to make prime time news on any major networks. I deliberately decided to watch Jane the Virgin because I did not want to watch this farce of a press conference.

Everything was done to make this as offensive to the people as possible. The prosecutor made the defense case for 20 minutes before finally announcing the no-indictment. I can only imagine what he told the grand jury behind closed doors if he couldn’t control the need to make the defense’s case in front of the cameras.
Those poor parents.

Presumably so everyone at work across the metro area could get home first.

My husband commutes from St Louis, and believe me, the peaceful protests were not getting in the way of anybody ‘s commute. Every effort was made to push protesters towards rioting but they showed extreme self-restraint and didn’t bite.
