I’m just not made for Facebook, people. I hadn’t visited my Facebook page for months, finally checked it out today, and discovered a series of status updates from a friend:
“On the way to the airport. Feeling devastated.”
“At the airport. Everything comes to an end. That’s the nature of human existence, I guess.”
“On the airplane with a heavy heart.”
“Back home. Let the grieving begin.”
This friend has elderly parents and a brother in a war zone. Obviously, I immediately thought somebody had died and she was grieving the loss. I was about to start expressing my deepest condolences when I saw another status update:
“Vacations are over. Oh well.”
My literal mind just can’t deal.
So annoying. I have a friend like this too. She sounds absolutely devastated and sick of life because she has to return from some trip or because the weather is bad. Each time I feel a small pang of fear and like I have to call a suicide hotline before I figure out again she just makes a huge drama over having to wait in the airport for 2 hours. By now I actually have started to dislike her although she is much more normal outside of facebook. This stupid site just brings out the worst in many people.
P.s. I love the snow! I hope it will snow here soon. 🙂

Yes, it’s the format that makes people like this. This friend is the most laid-back, non drama – queenish person I know in RL.
