The Nation’s Disgusting Love of Putin

Once again, The Nation is being extraordinarily unprofessional in its reporting on Ukraine. The magazine actually condemns the ousting of the country’s corrupt president Yanukovitch after he ordered the troops to open fire on peaceful protesters in 2013.

The stupid rag never fails at reaching new and disgusting lows in its efforts to service Putin and his lackeys.

  1. ” The magazine actually condemns the ousting of the country’s corrupt president Yanukovitch after he ordered the troops to open fire on peaceful protesters in 2013. ”

Doesn’t he call Yanukovitch ‘corrupt’ in his article?

Reading the article linked, I come away with an impression that the author is calling out the Western media and political leaders for being selective about protesting about opposition murders (to the current governments) in Russia vis Ukraine, not necessarily carrying water for Putin.

Not that I read The Nation beyond what you’ve linked, but they seem to be progressives rather than right-wing, which would make them supporting Putin be rather odd.

    1. You forget that progressives are all Putinoid these days, unfortunately. 😦

The argument made in the linked article is almost verbatim what Putin ‘ s media have been pushing in the past 3 days.

The Nation magazine is a far left politically as humanly possible without being committed to an insane asylum. The magazine was founded 150 years ago to support abolition of slavery, and in the century-and-a-half since then, that’s the ONLY thing the magazine ever been right about. Its foreign policy views have consistently blamed the United States for every ill anywhere in the world. It was a big supporter of Communism and the Soviet Union, and its nostalgia for those days lingers in its absolute, mindless worship of Putin.

The only reason to ever read The Nation’s website is for comedy relief.

  2. And the little rat-fucker author is too much of a coward to allow comments. I refuse to read media-fonts that don’t allow comments anymore, it’s too much like being preached to (and 80% of the time the comments are at least as informative as the original article).

What’s weird (to me) is the very, very broad base of Putinophilia in the US media, progressives and conservatives are both crushing on him in unseemly ways.

    1. It’s weirding me out, too! And it’s impossible to ask them why because they either don’t recognize it, hiding behind the mantle of fake objectivity , or disconnect the comments to their articles.
