Don’t you ever get the feeling that the smallest unit of monetary measurement these days is $100? Everything costs $100.
Renewing the car registration? $100.
Buying medication? $100.
Hiring a handyman to put up lighting fixtures? $100.
The lighting fixtures themselves? $100.
And don’t even hope to set a foot in the grocery store without being prepared to part with $100.
Every day I wake up and wonder which new development will require me to say good-bye to yet another $100 on this day.

Where do you go grocery shopping?
I get most of my vegetables and fruit from the farmer’s market, supplies like trash bags and detergent from other stores, and the rice and lentils I use in bulk from ethnic groceries. When I go to the ethnic grocery I can spend $100, but that lasts a month for four people.
I personally can never get out of any chain grocery store without spending at least $20. Of course it takes a large amount of time and gas to do this and I don’t really buy organic produce, dairy or eggs.

I’m trying to avoid our ethnic grocery as much as possible because I lose control when I’m in there and start hauling out everything in sight. The owners adore me. They must think I have a family of 10 here. 🙂
