The lines men use to meet a person change as one gets older. Now it’s all:
“Such a beautiful woman / pretty lady* must surely be married???????”
. . .
“Well, I hope your husband appreciates his good fortune / is treating you right???????”
. . .
“And you are happy with him, too / not looking for nothing better???????”
*Depending on the man’s social class.
The one I get from young women in Ghana is, “Do you have a girlfriend?” I tell them “No, I have a wife.”

It’s great to see what you look like. 🙂 You are very attractive. But you don’t look in the least American. I don’t mean that Americans are unattractive. But you look very Western European. I’d guess you were from Denmark on the Netherlands.

Compared to people from my Russian-speaking culture, they are shockingly faithful. If somebody cheats, they are ashamed of it, keep it a secret. Growing up, the only woman I knew who wasn’t juggling a string of lovers at any given time was my mother. And here I honestly cannot imagine a group of women discussing their extramarital exploits in front of their small children like they were always discussed by older women in front of me.

American culture is changing. Erica Jong years ago coined the phrase, the “zipless fuck”, to refer casual sex with no emotional involvement. Now we have popular websites like Ashley Madison that a designed to connect married people who want to play outside the relationship.
It makes sense that a growing acceptance of diversity would lead to other behaviors emerging from the closet.
There is a tendency to confuse loyalty with conservatism, which isn’t necessarily true. With Lyn and I, it’s not true at all.

Nah, decades befor Erica, there was ‘Shave ’em dry’ which meant the same thing.

Nyah, long before Erica the expression “shave ’em dry” was used by blues singers in the 1920’s and 30’s to mean the same thing.
I had a longer version with examples but it’s not showing up and there’s no ‘your comment is in moderation’ note either.
