Sarah Palin ‘ s daughter Bristol is pregnant out of wedlock. Again. This is after she made over a quarter of a million dollars for her lectures on the importance of abstinence.
Nobody knows who the father is this time. There are two very public possibilities.
Moral of the story: people who listen to abstinence lectures are stupid.
First of all, I loved the funny moral. 🙂
Then began thinking: having two (!) pregnancies out of wedlock is something most sexually active women avoid. How do we know her second pregnancy wasn’t exactly what she desired?
May be, she agreed since the father promised to marry her, but then found herself alone.
She is 24 now, not 16, and has spent quite a lot of time talking to people about sex during those years, so so I don’t think having sex ‘accidentally’ without birth control was the matter.

Nobody really thinks twice about having children unmarried these days. That boat has sailed a long time ago. Here this is only problematic because she made her living with those anti-sex lectures.

Maybe she’s having a delayed teenage rebellion? Usually, when you become a teen mom, you get insta adult status. (At 16, she’d have needed judicial bypass or parental permission to have an abortion.) But she’s had a flood of money and sinecures due to her mother’s connections aka wingnut welfare and her willingness to be an abstinence lecturer/object lesson . She tried to shove her life into marry the father of the baby mode the first time, which didn’t work. She tried again, and it didn’t work.
She’ll be fine, she’ll just lecture about the evils of abortions and birth control. She just won’t get paid as well since her mother got fired from her Fox show.

Yes, Bristol is now quite a wealthy person, so this is not a big deal. The older boy seems to be fine, he has a relationship with his father, everything is good. I’m not concerned about the kids here (and that’s saying a lot). But I do believe that the whole concept of abstinence talks should just be buried already. The whole idea is ridiculous.

This is John McCain’s legacy. The idiot who brought the Palins into the national spotlight. This is the only thing he should be remembered for.
On a different note, can you imagine the pearl clutching from the republicans had Obama campaigned in 2008 with his teenage daughter having a baby out of wedlock?

McCain made himself unelectable by choosing Palin. We should all thank him for that choice. I still remember the moment when I heard about Palin and immediately said, ” Wow, we have a new President, Barack Obama. “

Well what you expect from a bunch of whited sepulchres? My liberal side hates with their politics, and my conservative side laughs uproariously at the idea that any of these people can serve as my betters in any sense. At any rate, I lost the vestige of respect I didn’t know I had for her with her response to the Tuscon shootings. The pretzels I saw people twist themselves to assert that she was brilliant and wonderful while claiming that Obama was mediocre and stupid was an astounding demonstration of Dunning-Kruger inflected racism.

There is a total degradation of conservatism in this country. There are really brilliant, profound conservative thinkers in the world with whom I might disagree but who have a hugely significant contribution to make. But this bunch of sad clowns we see representing American conservative thought today is just pathetic. And I don’t mean just their politicians. I mean their recognizable public voices. It’s all just shameful.

ROFLMAO: I planned to get pregnant before the wedding that didn’t happen on purpose! Which is why I described my pregnancy as a disappointment! Which it isn’t! Because I don’t have an editor!
