It’s only when one gets to Europe that one realizes how horribly over salted everything is in the States. A waiter serves you dinner, you taste it and think, “Where is the salt?”
And then you realize that salt is back home with its children, hypertension and heart disease.
Do you consider the UK “Europe”? Some Brits would take exception to that. 🙂

Something I never realized until I read it and it all made sense: restaurants in the US salt salads.
I’m not very sensitive to salt but sometimes restaurants will make entrees pickle level salty.

Too much salt kills all the flavor. It’s such a pity to encounter dishes I know could be amazing but we’re slaughtered with the salt. This is profit-seeking at its most stupid.

I get weak and shaky, and cannot think as clearly, if I don’t eat enough salt.

When my mother sat down to her first dinner with my father’s family, everything looked and smelled good that was on the table.
10 minutes later, she had already drunk two glasses of water because of the salt in the food, courtesy of my Texas-born-n-bred grandmother.
