Vacation Plans

So. Guess who’s going to Florida for 15 nights?

Since this will be such a long stay, we got a place that’s something between a condo and a hotel. It isn’t Airbnb because I would never get over betraying the working class both with Uber and Airbnb in the same month. But it’s a new model for us.

We will stay on the beach and do nothing else whatsoever. N and I both love very passive vacations where we lazily stroll from the beach to a restaurant and back.

  1. that sounds like a wonderful vacation. None of my friends or potential travel companions like such trips, and the whole thing is definitely less fun without someone to people-watch with…

  2. Florida in July and August (and September) is very very very hot. For me this is not good. But I do understand that intelligent people can disagree. Also bring sweaters: the restaurants will feel like Alaska.

    1. It’s +110° F where I am right now. And very humid. I’m thinking that it will be easier to survive this kind of heat close to the water. Because in a city it gets very intolerable. I suffer a lot from the heat.

      1. Yes, close to a large body of water with breezes the heat is not so oppressive. Where I am I feel like I’m dying if it gets much over 30 (celsius) because it’s away from the water and there’s hardly any wind when it’s hot (and no air conditioning though I figured out how to get around that)

The first time I was on the black sea coast of Bulgaria it was over 40 for several days and I felt fine, plenty of sea winds and as long as I didn’t stay too long outside in the direct sun I was fine and when I walked on the beach for about 30 minutes in the direct sun I was also okay. It felt very much like the coastal place I grew up in.

  3. For some reason I feel compelled to tell you that there is no tropical storm/hurricane activity around Florida. And before you think it weird that I should know that, I have to tell you that the only reason I looked it up is because I am going to Florida soon, too.
