So the UN passed a resolution to create an international tribunal that would investigate the tragic crash of flight MH17. Russia vetoed the resolution and expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
“Fuck you, families of victims. By the way, so sorry for your loss.”
Russians will squeeze every single drop of collective enjoyment out of this tragedy. The crash of flight MH17 is now a favorite subject of stand up comedians in Russia. Everybody is having so much fun with the situation.
You have no reason to care, and that’s perfectly fine, but I speak Russian as my first language, my husband is from Russia. It horrifies me to see the depths of bestiality and nastiness the people of Russia have reached.

Wow.
That’s all I’ve got. And I know you’re not exaggerating at all. I’m sorry.

These passengers never did anything bad to them, obviously. But they were from the evil West, so they’ve got to deserve it.
This is a bout of collective insanity.

What is more disgusting to me is seeing the Putin apologists over here in the US–like Eric Zuesse and Stephen Cohen–claim that MH17 was downed by the West or that it was all a devious plot to defame the good Russian soldiers who are trying to bring peace to the Ukraine.
Disgusting.

I had no idea there were people in the US who are buying into the idea that the plane was downed by the West. Wow. Totally wow.

If regular people in Russia don’t care about the victims of the crash, why are the Russian authorities so opposed to the investigation? It seems that Putin is actually afraid of the truth coming out.

The reason why Putin is sabotaging the investigation is simply because he can. He likes to exercise his veto at the Security Council of the UN as often as possible to feel important.
But everybody in Russia knows who shot down the plane because the culprits posted messages about it right after downing the plane on social networks. Every Russian – speaker has had a chance to see those messages and watch the videos made at the site of the crash immediately after it happened.

Interesting concept — social media as probative evidence of a crime.

Yes, confession, what a bizarre concept. Nobody has ever seen probative value in confessions. Must be an anti – Russian conspiracy by evil Westerners.
