El idiota

Spain’s best-selling writer Elvira Lindo published an article in the leading newspaper El País that is titled “El idiota” (“The Idiot”) and illustrated with the photo of Donald Trump.

Lindo points out that Hillary Clinton must be ecstatic because Trump is carrying her straight to the presidency. I have to agree that he’s the best thing that ever happened to her.

On the other hand, what a shame on all of us who happen to live here. What an absolute shame. And please don’t start with “We don’t care what others think of us” because that’s a sign of sociopathy and nothing to be proud of either.

  1. Not an idiot, actually, but rather clever …

    Daily Mail UK —
“Trump trolls Gawker with political-ad voicemail …”:

Apparently when Gawker acted in its usual reprehensible way by disclosing information that would best be left private, Donald Trump decided he’d have one on Gawker by turning what used to be his private mobile phone line into a recording for his political candidacy.

Actually, I have this same capability with my mobile phone lines, although I’d set mine up as an interactive voice recording — “press 1 to hear me tell you off, press 2 to hear me tell you why your tactics were doomed to failure, press 3 to hear me laughing at you and your complete failure to understand how you’ve just made me stronger, press 4 … and at any time during this call, you may press the hash key to go to the main menu, where I shall tell you off once again … press 666 to be forwarded to my public relations people, who will do their demonic best to make certain you will regret contacting them at all …”

    1. I don’t have a voice mail at all. They are so outdated. What need is there to say, ” Hey, it’s me, call me back” when people always see your number in their logs anyway? Seems awfully redundant.

      1. Actually, when calls transfer in from my Miami, Florida number to my UK mobile, they usually don’t have calling party ID information in the right format for UK mobile networks, so I usually see a call from “Restricted” instead.

I typically let these “Restricted” calls go straight to voice mail, and simply looking at the missed call log doesn’t work at all for me.

There’s a trick I use for getting calls from people I know to display a name instead, which gets around this problem most of the time, but I can never rely on the missed call log for anything useful.

I’ve simply asked people to ring me again if it’s urgent, and that if they don’t leave a message otherwise, I probably will have no clue they even tried to call.

Anyway, if I were Donald Trump and I knew the calling party IDs of all of the Gawker people, I’d transfer them all to a special number where they could hear me laughing at them endlessly … 🙂
