Ali Saqr al-Qasem, an ISIS member in Raqqa, publicly executed his mother Lina to prove his loyalty to the terrorist organization to which he belongs.
This is the first public matricide in Raqqa, but given the vision ISIS promotes of women, it’s unlikely to be the last. ISIS is currently touting the murder as an act of profound religious faith.
I heard about this execution this morning. It sounded like something out of a novel, or an ancient Greek epic. I couldn’t believe it. And yet, it’s not as if honor killings are a thing of the past either, so it didn’t take me long to say, “Well, yeah, actually that is believable.” Ugh.

Horrific! I am outraged that this group exists but am helpless to do anything about it.

Knowing about what is going on is already doing something.

Is anybody surprised at this? Absent a major provocation in Europe or the U.S., the ISIS slaughter is going to continue unabated until the 2016 election, while our absentee commander-in-chief practices “strategic patience.”
Then Hillary, or her victorious Republican rival, will finally start acting like the only head-of-state on this planet who can successfully show international leadership.
You can mock “American exceptionalism,” but the world is wandering in the wilderness without it.

I’m not mocking. Europe has happily transferred all of its foreign policy duties to the US and now rarely does anything but offer criticisms in the style of a spoiled brat. When shit happens, people have nowhere else to look to but to the US because Europe has withdrawn from this role and everybody else who wants to lay claim to the role is absolutely horrible (like Putin.)

Where do you get this? Do you really think the US is not fighting ISIS currently? Just recently there were news reports that ISIS has lost one third of their entire territory. Who do you think is responsible for that, France?
You’ve been trying very hard to paint a ‘fiddling while Rome burns’ picture for Obama’s actions vs ISIS, but that dog won’t hunt. Is the entire defense establishment clamoring for an out-and-out ground war vs ISIS and he’s stonewalling them? If that’s your argument I’d love to see some evidence.
Or is it just anger that Obama won’t follow your specific advice on how to deal with ISIS?

Try reading and watching the news, Stringer Boy. The fact that ISIS isn’t being effectively contained, let alone being degraded and destroyed by Obama’s current policies, is well documented.
